Simon Shannon achieves 25 years service at Timber Connection

This year has seen Timber Connection’s longest serving member of staff reach a 25 year milestone with the company. Simon Shannon, who joined the company in 1993 at the age of 25, was employed as a clear grade softwood trader to add diversity to what was principally a hardwood trading company at the time. It was and of course still is only Simon’s second place of employment, the first being softwood agent Montague F Upton Ltd where he first met Danny Catherall (founder and current managing director at Timber Connection) who also joined Uptons shortly after Simon did in 1985.
At Timber Connection’s recent staff Christmas Dinner Simon was presented with a small gift as a token of the companies appreciation for the service he had given. While presenting, Danny thanked Simon for his loyalty and dedication to the company, saying ‘You eat, sleep and breathe Timber Connection and I couldn’t have done it without you!’
